While it is not required, we highly encourage attendees to register in advance on TheBusinessOfSports.com’s Event Page. Special thanks to Russell Scibetti for making this event possible.

The event will be held at BlackFinn at 218 East 53rd St. which is conveniently located near the E, V and 6 subways. The night will begin at 6:30pm and will last until 9:30pm. Drink specials will be available.

Event Rules:
1) Business cards are encouraged, but please no resumes.
2) Bringing friends and colleagues is encouraged, but meeting new people is required. You can get a drink with your coworker another night. Socialize!

Please make sure to register on the Event Page. We are expecting the biggest turnout we’ve ever had!

Today’s TSBX Special Report was researched by Caleb Mezzy. With the Super Bowl behind us and a pending lockout in front of us, there’s no better time to look at the role of sports agents and how to best have a career as an agent. Below is the executive summary of Caleb’s research.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Ever wonder what it would be like to be a sports agent? You could start your own agency and begin recruiting or work for an already established agency. In one scenario, agents will enter the industry with one sport in mind and slowly branch into other sports. In a second scenario, sports agents might spend their time recruiting all sports to find their “bonus baby.” I decided I need to do some research on my own to find out exactly what agents in the industry thought were the best methods for becoming a successful sports agent. With a background interest in becoming a sports agent myself, I reached out to agents I had previously become acquainted with and ask them to fill out an online survey about their thoughts on the industry. Based on the results received, we can see that neither scenario standing alone is based suited for entry into the industry but rather a combination of both scenarios is more likely to ensure long term success.
