Many startups begin with a vision from a single entrepreneur. Brian Connolly has a vision and the background experience to back it up; an excellent combination for a startup. Victus Advisors, a consultancy providing market research and financial advisory for sports franchises, athletic departments, venues and events, is the brain child of founder Brian Connolly. Launched just two months ago, Brian Connolly has already learned a lot from his new venture and expects to grow Victus Advisors into a well-respected independent advisory firm.
Victus Advisors provides advisory services across a wide range of sectors for sports teams, facilities, and events. Victus Advisors is most well versed in market research including customer research, facility planning, and economic impacts. Other sectors of advisory service include market/economic demand, ticketing, sponsorship, facility feasibility, and premium seating. Victus Advisors is an independently owned and operated advisory group which Connolly suggests helps them be honest and truthful with their clients. Still in its infancy, Victus Advisors has already seen some seeds of success. They are already hard at work with their first client, conducting member surveys for one of American sports’ largest national governing bodies (NGB). They have also received several RFPs in the first two months and hope to land several other clients in the coming weeks.
Connolly has learned a lot since starting Victus Advisors. Brian was a consultant with CSL International, specializing in feasibility studies, economic impact analysis, and operational reviews before launching Victus Adivsors. He also previously worked for the Arizona Cardinals, Orlando Magic, and a Boston-based market research firm. Brian indicated that one of his biggest positive surprises so far has been the overwhelming support he has received from other entrepreneurs, support from his network of contacts, and even support from people he has never met. “The support from other entrepreneurs has been unexpected and overwhelming. There is an entire network of people who have taken the risk to launch their own companies, and they have reached out to me to offer advice and support, and many have already been key sources of leads.” Brian also said that one of his challenges is being patient with the process of being a startup. He has set short term goals for the next 6 months and long terms goals for the next 5 years to help him stay committed.
