NYC Sports Business Networking Event Recap

by Joshua | May 28th, 2009

On May 26, Russell Scibetti (www.TheBusinessOfSports.com) and I co-hosted the first official TheBusinessOfSports.com Sports Networking Event in Manhattan, New York. An eclectic mix of sports business professionals gathered in the heart of Midtown. There were people of all backgrounds (students, agents, salespeople, marketers, entrepreneurs, VPs and more) from a variety of sectors within the sports industry. We had over 100 people show up. Everyone was talking and connecting with new people, which was really our goal. We had people from a wide range of companies such as ESPN, NBA, MLS, MSG, NY Giants, NJ Devils, NJ Ironmen, and the Sports Business Journal – among others.

All bias aside, this was a great event for everyone who attended and I highly encourage more young sports business professionals – and all sports business professionals – to join us for future events. Russell will be hosting the first Philadelphia Sports Business Networking Event on June 16 and I am hoping to finalize a date for a Boston Sports Business Networking Event in late July. We will also be hosting another event in New York City in the coming months.

Remember, you don’t have to wait for the events to start networking. You can also join the Sports Business Professionals – NYC and Sports Business Professionals – BOS LinkedIn groups to stay connected with everyone in between events.

I look forward to seeing everyone at future events.

Happy Networking,
Joshua Duboff
